48 Hours in Megève

Ideally located on the Plaza del Campanario, right in the heart of Megève, the Hôtel Mont-Blanc offers an elegant setting that is both extravagant and intimate.

A Weekend at the Hôtel Mont-Blanc

10 h

I’m enjoying my suite, with its exquisitely arty decor, and feeling truly privileged. Through the window, I watch the snow fall, covering the tin-plated copper scales of the bell tower and the large Christmas tree, which is magnificently decorated, just as it is every year.

I went for a stroll through Megève's charming cobblestone streets, near the old bridge or through the little squares, losing myself among its elegant boutiques and pop-up fashion stores.

I’m back, delighted to curl up in a soft armchair in front of the large fireplace with a lovely book I just bought. Then I’ll head next door for lunch at Le Relais. In a warm and relaxing atmosphere with weathered light wood, I’ll savor a mountain-style croque and a dreamy crème brûlée.

3:00 p.m.‍

I head to the Pure Altitude spa. An almost polar-like softness envelops me instantly, just like its walls clad in white leather. I choose the Beauté Glacée treatment, the Lift 4810 anti-aging treatment—a nod to the summit of Mont Blanc—which combines a firming facial massage with an exfoliation and a body wrap… I completely unwind.

I’m delighted to return to the hotel’s cozy lounges. It’s time to sample the homemade pastries for which the place is famous: a Mont Blanc with a grand cru hot chocolate for some, a coffee éclair, a lemon tartlet, and a signature tea for others.

‍

19 h

I’m savoring a vintage champagne—a 2009 Dom Ruinart—at the bar of Les Enfants Terribles. The rooms, where artwork and vintage finds are mixed together, are just as lively as they are during the day. Outside, the horse-drawn carriages keep passing by and the snowflakes keep dancing.

8:30 p.m.

Tonight I’ve decided to treat myself to the dish I’d had my eye on at lunch: beef cheeks braised for 8 hours in Mondeuse d’Arbin wine, served with creamy polenta. Knowing that later I’ll be treated to a tour of Mont Blanc and its cheeses, followed by the simply irresistible dessert buffet.
